lyric analysis

PVRIS - St. Patrick

Chemicals links well with the theme I was originally thinking of doing (drug abuse).

Drugs give the illusion of separating reality and creating a hyperreality, the lyrics suggest this (they are not thinking about things they usually would when in right state of mind).

Drugs also make people have hallucinations, the term transparent hands suggest they are not really there, could ink to the concept of drugs.

Taste of heaven, could show shot of the pill or drug being taken suggesting the drug is the "little taste of heaven"

Suggests paranoia and anxiety, could link to side effects of consumption of drugs.

Suggests the consumption of drugs.

The main theme of the song is about love, the lead singer explains love to be physiological and chemical reaction within the body. Using terms like "you let me breathe" and "that make me cling to you" suggest the love is so consuming that it has physical implications on the body.

However, these lyrics could also be altered to be applied to the theme of my music video (drug abuse). For example, when the lead singer talks about feeling consumed and there being physical changes, this can also be applied to the post consumption effects of drugs.

From this analysis, I now have a greater understanding of the song which will greatly help when I need to match shots to certain parts of the song (match a shot of the lead taking drugs to the line "I know its chemicals")
